CAMSEG SCM

The next release of CAMSEG SCM, 2.6, should be available in the next few weeks. These are the main new features introduced in this version.

Financial Remix

All the items the Operations Overview have been redesigned to match real-life accounting terms. This new design is also mush more easier to understand and everyone should quickly get used to it.

Time Periods

The Time Periods are a snapshot of the campaign for an older time period. For example, if you want to have separate period for each month, you create a new time period every month. All the data currently in the campaign will be saved to the time period and the operations will be cleared for the current period. It’s not possible to modify a closed period, but all reports and charts can still be generated, with the new Browse Old Periods function.

Products can now be directly sold in orders

The orders can now contain products, if their Can Be Sold property is enabled. It’s very useful if you sell raw material. For example, if you want to sell rope, you can set the quantity of the product in the order to what you want, ex : 1m, or 45ft, etc.

Multiple level categories

The categories can now be organized in trees : a category contains child categories. It permits advances organization features.

Updates on discounts (discount triggers, discounts on Services and Products)

Many new features have been added to the discount :
Triggers : When a discount is applied, PLUs, products or services can be automatically added to the order.
Discount on Services and Products : The discounts can now be applied on Products and Services

Batch Processing

This new tool helps making large-scale changes. For example, if you want to change the price of 100 products, you can do it with just a few clicks instead of making the 100 changes.

The stable version of CAMSEG SCM 2.5 – codename Tibetan Wolf – has been released. This new version brings a lot of new features, but the most important is probably the support of SQLite-based campaigns. This support for databases also means that MySQL campaigns, along with CWI, will be back for CAMSEG SCM 2.6 (the next release). Support for networked campaigns (with a server and multiple clients) has also been started. It will not be in SCM 2.5, but it should be finished for SCM 2.6.

The stable version of CAMSEG SCM 2.4 – codename Dingo – has been released. The major new feature in this version is the new Report System. This new system is based on HTML, JavaScript and CRL, and the mix of these three technologies allows almost unlimited report capabilities. For instance, the previous system only allowed one table by report, but with the new one, it’s possible to have any number of tables, or not use them at all.

Other new features include:

- Discount by PLU category (conditions and actions applied to PLUs of a specific category)
- Support for discount passwords
- Improved support for batch report generation (it’s now possible to generate multiple reports in a single document/impression)
- Improved currency support (the major ISO currencies are included in the application, and it’s possible to specify a custom one)
- Batch Object importer : allows to import Customers, Vendors or Donators contained in a CSV file
- The start ID of each object type can now be specified (ex: one can set the Start ID of the orders to 1000, and the first order will be order #1000)
- Improved report theming (with CSS technology)
- The vendor can now be used as the customer in an order
- Category code override
- Selector for visible data rows in the Charts
- New reports and charts

Lots of bugs have been corrected for this release (it should be the most stable release ever !). Additionally, the Turkish translation was updated for this release.

The stable version of CAMSEG SCM 2.3 codename Singing Dog has been released. This release improves a lot the usability of the application and brings many new features, such as the POS Order Screen. Numerous bugs have also been corrected.

Here are the main improvements since the 2.2 release :

• New data backend (faster and easy to port for other backends than .cam files, such as databases)

After two long months of development, the Release Candidate version of SCM 2.3 is finally avaible. A lot of changes and cleaning have been made in the code, but there are also a lot of new features. Many parts of the user interface have been re-designed, such as the Inventory screen which is now much more easier to use, and the Settings dialogs. A lot of work was also made on the Database backend, but this feature won’t be available in 2.3, because of the complexity of it. It would have delayed the release of at lease one month, so it will be included in the 2.4 version. An important new feature is the addition of a POS (Point Of Sale) order screen. This new interface is designed for retail shops,restaurants, etc. To use this screen, the Order Dialog Type option of the SCM Settings (Interface Tab) has to be set to POS Screen. It’s not very polished, but changes will be made in it for the final 2.3 release. Other new features include : sorting in tables (it’s now possible to, for instance, sort the customer by name A-Z), a new lookup dialog (see other post on this blog), and financial transactions exportation to QIF and CSV. Lots of bugs have also been corrected.

For Windows 7 and Vista users, a feature has been added to make the background of dialogs glassy (with blur). This feature is activated by default in Windows systems where compositing is activated, but it can also be turned on in the SCM Settings (Interface Tab, Blur Behind Dialogs).

Remember that this version is unstable and recommended for testing purposes only. The final 2.3 release should be out for Christmas. Please report bugs and requests to scm@camsegtech.com.

Table Sorting in SCM 2.3 RC

After weeks of developpement, the Release Candidate version of CAMSEG SCM is almost ready. It will contain many new features since 2.2, such as :

CAMSEG SCM 2.3 Release Candidate

The next release of CAMSEG SCM 2.3 is currently under active developpement. It features a lot of new features since the current 2.2 version, such as :

New Lookup Dialog

There will be a Release Candidate version before the final release. This RC should be available in 2 or 3 weeks (around December 8th).

There is a new section in the Downloads page with campaign examples made with CAMSEG SCM. These examples can show you the basics of the application, what things it does, etc. There is currently only one example, but more will follow

Books Example

The stable version of SCM 2.2 has been released. Since the Release Candidate, many bugs have been corrected, such as the crash on category chooser, or the crash on Close Campaign.
